Federica Formiga is an Associate Professor of the History of the Book and Contemporary Publishing at the University of Verona, where she has been directing a Master’s programme in Publishing for the past 13 years. Her research focuses on the promotion and distribution of books through bookshops and libraries. She collaborates with Italian professional associations and is the editor of the journal Publishing Eco-system: International Journal of Publishing Studies  (https://www.ledizioni.it/categoria-prodotto/riviste/sistema-editoria/). Among her publications are L’invenzione perfetta (Laterza) and Anche le parole sono in armi (Luni editrice).

Jaime Iván Hurtado is an entrepreneur and publishing consultant with more than 20 years of experience supporting Latin American publishers, universities, and content organisations through digital transformation. He is the founder and CEO of Hipertexto and libreriadelau.com (Colombia) and Netizen Digital Solutions (Mexico), and co-founder of Ediciones de la U, Yoleo.online and Buksy.club.

Through Hipertexto–Netizen, he has led high-impact initiatives across the region, developing digital platforms and publishing ecosystems, strengthening metadata and discoverability through solutions such asSIMEH, and enabling multi-channel distribution across print, print-on-demand, ebooks, and audiobooks. This work has also been driven by strategic alliances and partnerships with globally recognised companies shaping the future of publishing and digital content.

A specialist in STM, scientific, and academic publishing, he served as President of the Colombian Association of University Presses (ASEUC) and has worked internationally as a consultant and speaker for organisations such as CERLALC/UNESCO and United Bible Societies. He currently develops high-impact projects with national and regional university press associations, including EULAC (Association of University Presses of Latin America and the Caribbean) and Mexico’s Red Altexto, among others. He has also served on the Board of the Colombian Book Chamber.

She began her career at an international law firm in Barcelona, where she became the corporate partner of the firm. Since 2019, she has led the Legal and Compliance departments of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial for the markets of Spain, Portugal and Latin America, contributing strategic vision and solid expertise in corporate law, intellectual property, and regulation of the cultural and digital sectors.

Her profile combines expertise in M&A, intellectual property, digital rights, publishing contracts, and compliance policies across the nine jurisdictions in which Penguin Random House’s Spanish and Portuguese division operates. She has participated as a speaker and expert in discussions on copyright protection and the impact that new regulations have on publishing activity.

Todd Carpenter joined the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) in 2006 as Executive Director. NISO is a US-based non-profit association that develops and maintains standards to facilitate the creation, persistent management, discovery, and effective interchange of information in publishing and media. Throughout his career, Todd has served in a variety of roles with organizations that connected the publisher, library and software communities. Prior to joining NISO, Todd had been Director of Business Development with BioOne. He has held management positions at The Johns Hopkins University Press, the Energy Intelligence Group, and the Haworth Press. He has served the community on the Board of Directors of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, the Book Industry Study Group, FORCE11, the Coalition for SeamlessAccess, the Baltimore County Public Library Foundation, and currently serves as Chair of the ISO Technical Subcommittee on Identification and Description (ISO TC46/SC 9).

Dr Jessica Sänger is Director for European and international Affairs at Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (German publishers and booksellers association). In this role, she is responsible for representing the interests of the book sector at EU and United Nations institutions and for relations with the association’s umbrella organisations. She is currently Chair of the Freedom to Publish Committee of the International Publishers Association (IPA). From 2019 to 2024, she was Chair of the Copyright Committee of the IPA. Ms Sänger joined Börsenverein in 2008, where she was Deputy Head of the Legal Department from 2011. She studied law in Exeter and Mainz and trained for the bar in Mainz, from where she also received her Doctorate in law. Previous roles include a period as trainee case handler at the European Commission’s DG COMP (Media Unit) and management of an LL.M programme in Media Law. Ms. Sänger has been a visiting lecturer at Louisville and Bristol law schools for copyright, free speech, constitutional law, and law of broadcasting and the press.

Ugo Nourry is COO at Les Nouveaux Éditeurs (LNE), a French publishing group founded by Arnaud Nourry, former CEO of Hachette Livre.
LNE encompasses nine publishing houses spanning fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, comics, and manga.
Ugo is in charge of steering the company through a period of rapid growth, scaling from scratch in 2026 to 9 publishing houses and an anticipated 200 titles in 2026.
In this role, he oversees operational strategy, logistics, vendor negotiations, and the implementation of digital tools, from  ERP systems, to data analytics, and AI-driven automation—to support LNE’s  expansion.

Ben Santucci is the co-founder and CEO of Showcase Books, an audience intelligence platform for publishers. Showcase tracks every major reader audience on social media across six countries and counting. By monitoring thousands of bookshops, influencers, authors, imprints, and libraries, publishers unlock real-time insights on reader growth, engagement, and trends. The music industry has used real-time fan data to guide its acquisition and commercial strategies for a decade. Showcase is helping the book industry catch up. Before founding Showcase, Ben was a strategy consultant in London and Milan working on legacy industry transformations powered by consumer data. Showcase is based in London and Paris and works with publishers across the US, UK, and Europe.

Inés ter Horst started her publishing career in 2002 managing XXth Century literary works’ translation rights for Mediasatgroup in Madrid, Spain. In 2006, she joined The University of Chicago Press as Licensing Coordinator (Journals Division) and subsequently as Foreign Rights Manager (Books Division) where she also acquired English language rights to literary works by Latin American authors. In 2015, she moved to Austin, Texas as the University of Texas Press’s International Rights Manager, and since 2018, she has been the Director of Intellectual Property at Princeton University Press. Inés holds a law degree from Université Laval (Quebec City), and an LL. M. in Copyright Law from Franklin Pierce Law Center (University of New Hampshire.) She is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Italian.

Mara Hartung is Head of Account Management, Publisher Accounts GSA at Zebralution Digital Publishing, where she is responsible for the strategic development of German-language publishing partnerships, with a focus on digital audiobooks, ebooks, and print-on-demand. Her professional background is rooted in the audio industry, including several years of experience in content acquisition and publisher relations at Storytel, through which she gained extensive knowledge of digital publishing and distribution. She holds a degree in comparative literature, with an emphasis on contemporary European literature, and works at the intersection of content, technology, and publishing strategy.
